Betsson agrees Alfa Romeo F1 sponsorship deal
Swedish operator will become Official European Betting Partner for F1 team
Malta-headquartered operator Betsson has agreed a multi-brand deal to become the official European betting partner for the Alfa Romeo Formula 1 racing team.
Under the terms of the deal, Betsson brands including Betsafe, StarCasino and the main Betsson brand will appear on both Alfa Romeo F1 racing cars. Betsafe will be the first logo to feature on the car, with different brands appearing at different times during 2019.
The company will also create exclusive and innovative content around the deal, including bespoke betting offers and the chance to win money-can’t-buy experiences. The deal will run from the forthcoming Barcelona race and will cover all further European GP events during 2019.
Jesper Svensson, Betsson Group CEO said the company was “absolutely delighted” with the new deal, adding that he was hugely impressed with the Alfa Romeo team and looked forward to working with them.
The Alfa Romeo F1 team currently features former F1 champion Kimi Räikkönen and Italian rookie driver Antonio Giovinazzi. The team is operated by Formula One veteran manufacturer Sauber AG.
Frédéric Vasseur, team principal Alfa Romeo Racing and CEO Sauber Motorsport AG highlighted the similarities between the team and Betsson, expressing its confidence that the collaboration will “support us in our mission of fighting for ambitious results in 2019.”
So far only SportPesa and Betsson are the only gambling firms to sponsor Formula One racing teams following Liberty Media’s decision to remove its embargo on gambling sponsorships in 2018.
SportPesa agreed a multi-year deal to sponsor the Racing Point Formula One team in February.
