YGAM inks responsible gambling partnership with Leeds United
Charity targets education and protection through Premier League club’s foundation
The Young Gamers and Gamblers Education Trust (YGAM) has agreed a partnership with the Leeds United Foundation. The partnership will aim to inform young people, teachers and parents in the local community about gambling-related harm. Under the terms of the partnership, representatives from the foundation will undertake a number of YGAM-led training sessions tailored specifically at imparting the knowledge required to identify gambling-related harm and to help provide tools and guidance. The training programme will be expanded to local schools across Leeds once Covid-19 restrictions are lifted. “Sports foundations like Leeds United’s have a very positive, strong influence on young people, and they also have a huge influence within the local community,” YGAM education manager for the Yorkshire and Humber region Amy Bussey said. “If we can get sports involved in prevention and education, we can work with young people before harm occurs. “It has been a pleasure working with their really engaging team members, who have strong links to education. “They are already making moves to cover gambling harm with young people and clearly have a passion for educating and safeguarding young people,” she added. Premier League returnees Leeds United signed a multi-year shirt sponsorship deal with sports betting operator SBOTOP ahead of the new season, the largest commercial deal in the club’s 101-year history.
