20SHOTS launches Fantasy5 free-to-play Premier League game
Start-up to boost marketing presence after successful soft launch while seeking B2B opportunities with UK operators
Betting technology start-up 20SHOTS has launched a new free-to-play (F2P) predictor game called Fantasy5 based on the Premier League. The product soft-launched at the start of the 2020-21 season and has attracted more than 10,000 new player registrations due to the growing popularity of Fantasy Premier League (FPL). The official FPL game boasts more than 7.5 million players and 20SHOTS is looking to capitalise on this trend by promoting its new game to a digital, football-savvy audience. Fantasy5 allows players to win £10,000 if all five of their Premier League picks exceed their so-called fantasy points target. For example, if Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero was expected to score 10 points against Fulham according to Fantasy5, he would need to score more than 10 points to become a winning pick. The game is the brainchild of former Bookee head of marketing Jacob Kalms and ex-Football Radar data scientist Declan Spiro. The duo are now co-founders, having kickstarted the 20SHOTS business in January 2019. Kalms said: “Early response is very encouraging, suggesting the opportunity to win £10,000 completely free of charge while providing another outlet for fantasy enthusiasts to put their knowledge to the test is a sticky combination for an audience with a proven propensity to bet.” The product is proprietary with trading and risk-management handled in-house, while the business is currently seeking B2B opportunities on a plug-in basis with B2C operators. 20SHOTS is described as a B2B fixed-odds fantasy sports software provider and is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission. Fantasy5’s new marketing campaign will be spearheaded by injury analyst Ben Dinnery, who will provide exclusive commentary for users via his six-figure social media audience.
