Betfair makes Google Play Store debut with betting news and tips app
Betfair has joined Paddy Power in the Google Play Store with the launch of a new betting information app for the Android plaftorm.
The Betting.Betfair app is available for all versions of Android and offers free daily tips on horse racing and additional tips on a range of other sports.
Its Betfair’s first entry into the Android app store and the workaround of Google’s ban on gambling apps in the store echos Paddy Power’s launch of its Bet Calculator app earlier this year.
The app uses content from the betting.betfair site and contains direct web links to betting markets as well as a free £20 bet offer for new players.
Betfair said there are plans to launch an iOS version of the app in the near future.
Mobile has been a major driver of growth for Betfair with 57% of sportsbook revenue coming through the mobile channel in October and the majority of its new activations coming through mobile.
