This weekâs news features financial results from Betfair and Cheltenham-inspired app updates from Ladbrokes
Betfair recorded strong growth from its mobile channel for the three months ended 31 January 2014. More than 60% of its sportsbook wagering is now derived from mobile devices, while mobile gaming revenue for the period more than trebled year-on-year. âWe are now competing more aggressively and are investing heavily in customer marketing and product development,â Breon Corcoran, CEO at Betfair, said.
Several bookmakers prepared for this weekâs Cheltenham Festival with the release of app updates comprising features geared towards horse racing enthusiasts. Both Ladbrokes and Betfair added forecast and tricast betting capability to their apps for the first time, while Ladbrokes also added content syndicated from the Racing Post including tips and race overviews.

Unibet revealed plans to launch a new native mobile casino app developed in partnership with Relax Gaming. Spin City will be available on both iOS and Android devices and will complement the Nordic operatorâs existing HTML5 mobile web product. The product will also be released on Unibetâs Maria brand under name Spin Me.
Coral Interactive moved to expand its in-house range of mobile gaming products with the acquisition of Oldham-based games developer Cool Games for an undisclosed fee. The developer already supplied Coral online slots titles from its portfolio of 300 games, however Cool games will now also develop exclusive games for the operatorâs mobile casino products.

Ladbrokes signed a deal with US-based content supplier Williams Interactive to integrate its remote game server onto the bookmakerâs desktop and mobile products. The slots games are expected to be available by the end of Q2 2014. âWeâre thrilled to provide the catalogue of Williams Interactive slot themes to our players later this year,â Richard Pool, head of product at Ladbrokes Digital, said.
