Unibet mobile revenue to overtake web next year
CEO Henrik Tjärnström says it is âjust a matter of timeâ before mobile exceeds desktop revenue
Unibet chief executive Henrik Tjärnström claims it is âjust a matter of timeâ before the companyâs mobile revenue outstrips its desktop channel.
Speaking to sister publication eGaming Review after the firmâs Q3 results disclosure, Tjärnström predicted that mobile revenue would surpass the 50% barrier next year, backed by a host of âinnovativeâ new gaming products.
âThe 50% mark is more of a psychological level and itâs just matter of time before we get there, but all trends point towards [us] passing the barrier next year,â he said.
Tjärnström was speaking after the firm revealed that it derived 55% of its gross sportsbook revenue from mobile devices throughout the three-month period ended 30 September, a rise of eight percentage points on last yearâs figures.
The increase took mobile revenues to 38% of the groupâs total and helped contribute towards a 45% year-on-year surge in EBITDA to £21.1m, a new record for Unibet.
And the chief exec backed new products to push Unibet over the line after the operator developed and released a new iPad-optimised casino app after agreeing a 12-month deal with an unnamed third-party.
The Unibet Casino app was released earlier this month and features a number of games the firm had not previously been able to place on mobile devices due to technology constraints.
âWith this new technology it simplifies that transformation massively to publish content which was previously restricted to the web channel,â Tjärnström added.
