Bwinâs sportsbook mobile revenues overtake desktop
Operator continues to grow its mobile channel as takeover talks with GVC remain ongoing
Bwin.party is drawing more than half of its sports betting revenues from mobile, the operator said yesterday in a trading update.
According to the report, sportsbook mobile revenue is now âover 50%â, up from 37% in June 2014, while the operator also said 31% of all gross gaming revenue is now coming from the mobile channel, up from 23% in 2014.
Despite ongoing talks with GVC over a proposed takeover, bwin.party has been in the middle of a major upgrade of its mobile suite. Earlier this month it added new features to SNG games on its poker application as well as improving its UI. Meanwhile Apple Watch functionality was added to its sportsbook alongside live alerts.
In December bwin.party released a new gesture-based update to its sports betting app it labelled as âground-breakingâ due to its gesture-based design and intuitive interface.
The operator said the new navigation was designed to provide customers with multiple entry points and âquick divesâ into sports betting markets, reducing the time in which it takes customers to place a bet upon opening the app.
Bwin.party had previously been slow on the mobile uptake and as recently as the end of 2013 was drawing just 13% of revenues from the channel.
