GVC plots mobile improvements with World Cup looming
Company aiming to boost sports betting brands and push mobileâs share of revenues past 20% barrier
GVC is plotting a series of improvements to its suite of mobile products as it looks to prepare for the World Cup and beyond.
The company revealed during its Q1 2014 results it recorded a rise in sports stakes on mobile devices from its sports betting brands â which include Sportingbet and Betboo â and that 19% of sportsbook net gaming revenue was now derived from mobile devices.
âThis is a trend that GVC sees continuing and being ever more important in customer retention,â the firm said.
While the figure is an increase on the 10% recorded in the corresponding period a year ago, it falls short of the figures recorded by operators such as Paddy Power and William Hill whose mobile revenues are nearer the 50% mark.
Speaking to sister publication eGaming Review, GVC chief executive Kenneth Alexander said the firm was always looking to improve on its portfolio of mobile products.
âWeâll have some improvements for the World Cup for sure and we are definitely looking to improve that [20% figure] and we expect that to grow over the next year or so,â he said.
The Sportingbet mobile sports betting app was first in October 2011 and last updated in September of last year when various but undisclosed improvements were made to the functionality of its sportsbook.
