Ladbrokes senior management reshuffle continues
Group commercial director John Pettit will leave the operator later in the year, operator confirms it has no plans to replace him
Ladbrokes senior management reshuffle has continued with the operator this morning announcing group commercial director John Pettit will leave the firm later this year.
The news of Pettit’s departure comes just weeks after Ladbrokes’ MD of digital Jim Mullen took over the reins from beleaguered incumbent Richard Glynn, kick-starting a series of top table promotions.
Pettit will stay on in the role until July to “ensure the smooth handover of his responsibilities”, although the operator said it has no plans to fill his vacant role.
Instead, Ladbrokes said it would review its retail board structure, with commercial director of retail Richard Lang assuming responsibility for all retail commercial agreements across all product areas.
During his three and a half year tenure, Pettit played a central role in the Ladbrokes’ negotiations with Playtech and in particular over talks regarding the Mobenga mobile product.
Ladbrokes CEO Jim Mullen said Pettit had “led key commercial partnerships” across retail and digital and had helped put the operator “back on a growth path”.
Pettit will remain with Ladbrokes until July and then go on gardening leave before perusing other opportunities in the betting and gaming sector in the run up to next year.
“It has been an extremely busy and enjoyable time at Ladbrokes and I am pleased to have played a key role in putting the business on a positive footing for the future […],” Pettit said.
“I am looking forward to a short break before looking for a new challenge in the betting and gaming sector,” he added.
