Stride to launch Amelco sportsbook ahead of World Cup
Bingo-led operator says new product will support expansion into European markets
Stride has announced plans to launch a sportsbook product before the World Cup in partnership with Amelco.
The operator said a betting proposition would continue its development into a “truly multi-product, multi-market operator”, although it did not specify how the product would be branded.
“Sports betting offers a strategic opportunity for Stride in terms of customer acquisition and retention,” the firm said in a statement.
“It will also support our expansion into European markets as it enables additional cross-selling opportunities into casino games with the initial rollout expected ahead of the World Cup this summer.”
Stride yesterday announced plans to refocus its efforts on international markets, thanks to the
“fundamental increase in the cost of doing business in the UK”.
The company has recently recruited a head of international development and the group plans to launch in Italy (sports and casino) by year end. Stride is also in the process of obtaining licences in three other European countries (Spain, Denmark and Sweden) with the intention of launching during FY19.
The international expansion is expected to affect FY19 EBITDA by c. £2m, after the firm reported a 14% rise in H1 revenues yesterday.
Amelco currently provides sportsbook technology to PokerStars’ BetStars sportsbook.
