Poll results: Betfair ahead of the pack in 2014
eGR readers believe operator outperformed rivals William Hill, Paddy Power and Ladbrokes in recent results
Betfair’s performance in 2014 outstripped that of rival operators William Hill, Paddy Power and Ladbrokes, according to respondents to this week’s eGaming Review poll.
Following the recent slew of financial results, eGR asked readers for their view on which of the publically-listed quartet performed best across the 12-month period.
The firm’s impressive financial results, successful marketing campaign, improved sportsbook and egaming performance, and enviable in-house product development was enough to convince 37% of readers it performed best over the 12 month period.
William Hill also made a strong case after its full-year online profits hit a record high of £177.3m in 2014, bringing to a close a year of substantial change to its business structure, personnel and product.
Nearly one third (31%) of poll respondents were swayed by William Hill’s record and said it had the strongest year, while Irish operator Paddy Power was next with 21% of the vote.
Ladbrokes, on the other hand, was in fourth place on 11%, with a majority of readers unconvinced by a 70% year-on-year rise in digital profits and 23% increase in revenues.
