Barry Nightingale leaves operator to join airline Monarch with his role handed to finance controller Nicola Barr
Betfred Group finance director Barry Nightingale is to step down from his role next month with the firm promoting finance controller Nicola Barr as his replacement.
Nightingale, who joined Betfred in 2008, has decided to take up a senior finance position at British airline company Monarch – a return to an industry where he previously spent ten years with charter airline Airtours.
During his time at Betfred, Nightingale oversaw the operator’s £265m acquisition and subsequent integration of the Tote in 2011 and has seen Betfred’s group revenues rise to more than £8bn.
Nightingale’s successor Barr joined Betfred in 2006 as call centre and internet financial accountant before rising up through the firm to assume her current position.
“We have promoted from within and Nicola Barr now has the position of group finance director,” a Betfred spokesperson told eGaming Review this morning.
“Nicola has been with Betfred since January 2006 [and] played a very important role in our acquisition of The Tote in July 2011.”
“We would like to wish Barry Nightingale all the best and thank him for his contribution to Betfred,” the spokesperson added.
The news follows a number of senior personnel changes at Betfred this year, including the appointment of John Haddock as chief executive and the promotion of Rakesh Chablani to managing director of its online division following the departure of Chris Sheffield.
Earlier this month the operator confirmed it had closed its Australia-facing operation little more than six months after first launching in the country.
