Betclic Everest targets 50% mobile turnover
Mobile was responsible for 39% of operator's turnover in April " around 51% of active customers bet via the channel
Betclic Everest is aiming to record 50% of its turnover on mobile by the first half of 2014 with mobile responsible for 39% of its turnover in April.
Speaking at a press conference announcing the launch of the Everest Poker iOS app, the company’s managing director for France Marc Guigo said 51% of Betclic Everest’s active customers bet with mobile devices in April. As a result the channel was responsible for 39% of the operator’s turnover.
Guigo added that the 50% turnover on mobile target could be reached by H1 2014 “if business continues to grow at the same pace”, after 35% of Betclic Everest’s new sign-ups came via mobile and tablet devices.
The French operator recorded 300m in gross gaming revenues in 2012 with EBITDA of 10m. This continues a period of recovery for the business, with losses declining from 90m in 2011 to 43.2m in the first half of part-owner Societé des Bains de Mer’s financial year.
However CEO Isabelle Andres, who replaced Ignacio Martos as CEO in January this year, admitted regulations for online poker in France have proved frustrating and has called for regulatory body ARJEL to pool liquidity with other dot.country markets in Europe. She said the move would “definitely” ramp up revenues, saying that it is currently “a difficult market.”
Online poker revenues were down 13% in the French market in the first quarter of 2013, according to ARJEL’s most recent results, with operators including 888 and TitanPoker handing back their licences as a result of the decline.
Betclic Everest moved its Everest and Betclic brands to Playtech’s iPoker network in September last year.
