BetUK pulls horseracing MBL after two months

LeoVegas-owned sportsbook brand BetUK has cancelled its minimum bet liability (MBL) offer on all UK and Irish horse races just two months after launching it.

There has been a sharp increase in the amount of UK and Irish race meetings over the last ten days. Wednesday for example sees 37 races take places across six meetings from 12pm to 8:10pm.

BetUK launched the promotion post-ICE on 21 February but is currently looking at ways to refine the MBL in the hope of re-introducing the offer at a later stage.

The company has not responded to customer tweets about the withdrawal, prompting some criticism on social media.

We are all guessing but I imagine its more likely they trialed it, found it unprofitable and so pulled it, rather than a company struggling. That being said – the fact BetUK havent explained why leaves this fact open to interpretation and has undoubtedly annoyed many customers

In related news, William Hill this week confirmed it would offer an MBL of £500 on all win singles placed on all UK and Irish races, as the bookmaker reconsiders its racing promotions after the FOBT stake cuts.
