Bwin.party targets 50% mobile revenues by year end
Operator sets strategic goal after reporting strong mobile growth in H1 despite an overall revenue decline
Mobile proved the highlight of a disappointing set of H1 results as bwin.party reported a 50% year-on-year increase in mobile revenues during H1 to a little over â¬100m.
The channel is now accounting for 30% of gross gaming revenues, which compares favourably to H1 2014 when the operator was taking just 19% of GGR from mobile.
And CEO Norbert Teufelberger said he expected further mobile growth, targeting a 50% revenue share by the end of the year with more updates and product roll-outs planned.
âWe have made considerable growth in expanding our mobile footprint,â Teufelberger said. âWe have updated all our mobile sports products, both in HTML and native apps in all of our markets with the exception of France, which we will do in a few weeks.â
Sports is currently the vertical most mobile-adapted, with 48% of revenues coming from the channel in H1, compared with 33% in bingo, 19% in casino and just 9% in poker, although there was growth across the board versus last year.
âWe set the goal to reach 50% on a month-by-month basis by the end of 2015. We are very certain we will reach it in sports, we are pretty sure we will reach it in bingo, casino will be tight but it is growing very fast but we will most likely miss poker,â Teufelberger said.
Bwin.party has been in the middle of a major upgrade of its mobile suite in recent months.
In July it added new features to SNG games on its poker application as well as improving its UI, while Apple Watch functionality was also added to its sportsbook alongside live alerts.
