Coral enjoys âmarked accelerationâ in mobile performance
Sportsbook and gaming mobile stakes increase during third quarter
Improvements to Coralâs mobile app helped drive an increase in sportsbook and gaming stakes from devices, with Gala Coralâs Interactive division this morning posting a 19% increase in Q3 net revenues.
During the 12-week period ending 2 July, the firmâs Coral.co.uk brand saw its mobile sportsbook stakes increase by 12pp to 80%.
The operatorâs gaming channel also enjoyed a 14.4pp rise in activity from mobile, with devices now accounting for 73% of gaming stakes.
Gala Coral said its âmarked accelerationâ in mobile penetration was a result of positive feedback to relaunching its proprietary mobile app.
The brand posted net revenues of £42.3m, up 26% on the comparable period in 2015, with sportsbook doing much of the heavy lifting following a 37% increase to £19.4m.
Galabingo.com posted a 7% rise in net revenue to £20.1m with mobile representing 60% of stakes, driven by the addition of exclusive content and enhanced CRM capabilities, while Galacasino.com also felt an 8% net revenue bump to £2.8m.
Gala Coralâs total net revenues for the 12-week period were £76.3m compared to £63.9m the prior year, while EBITDA stood at £21.6m despite a 35% increase in marketing costs (£15.7m).
Chief executive Carl Leaver said although he was pleased with the performance of the Interactive division, growth had been restricted by the introduction of new regulatory measures.
âWhilst we were pleased with our ongoing online net revenue growth of 19%, it is worth noting, as highlighted at our H1 results, this growth was held back by new regulatory requirements, including teething problems around the introduction of new player protection measures,â Leaver said.
âWe estimate new revenue would have grown by 28% absent of these factors,â he added.
