Dutch and Belgian regulators team up on data-sharing deal
KSA and BGC agree to collaborate on regulatory initiatives and AML investigations
The Dutch Gambling Authority (KSA) and its counterpart in Belgium, the Belgian Gaming Commission (BGC), have signed a cooperation-led Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The MoU includes the exchange of general information, concerning best practices as well as more specific information in the context of enforcement and licensing. The document draws on common goals shared by both regulators, such as combating crime, protecting players and preventing gambling addiction. Both regulators have already worked together on an informal basis, but this MoU formalises that arrangement. “This Memorandum of Understanding forms a good basis for sharing knowledge, collaboration and a smooth exchange of information. At the same time, a clear signal is being sent to providers of games of chance that we are joining forces internationally,” KSA CEO Rene Jansen said. The KSA has existing MoUs in place with the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA), France’s ANJ and the Swedish Gambling Authority (SGA). Addressing the signing of the MoU, the BGC’s Magali Clavie said: “Online games of chance are being increasingly offered across borders. “As a result, there is a greater need for international cooperation between regulators on (online) games of chance. Information exchanges with foreign colleagues are always very instructive,” Clavie added.
