EPIC Risk Management joins UKGC charitable contributions register
Education consultancy qualifies for operator RET funding under LCCP standards
EPIC Risk Management has been added to the UK Gambling Commission’s register of organisations that can receive funding for research, education and treatment (RET) from licensed operators. Under current licensing codes of practice, operators must make an annual financial contribution to one or more registered recipient organisations listed on the RET register. This organisation must not be connected to the operator to qualify to receive funding and operators must fully account for any payments made in their UKGC quarterly regulatory returns. Operators are free to make charitable contributions to other organisations not on this list, although these do not count towards UKGC RET contribution standards. The UKGC’s prescribed ‘white-list’ of RET organisations came into effect in January and currently includes 11 other charitable organisations dealing with UK players. EPIC Risk Management submitted its own application in December but has only just been added to the list due to the backlog of applications and the residual impact of Covid-19. EPIC Risk Management founder and CEO Paul Buck welcomed the addition to the UKGC register. “We will now work closely with the regulator, and the many potential partners who have expressed an interest in working with EPIC, to provide meaningful, impactful and evaluated gambling harm minimisation programmes and initiatives to help accelerate the strategy,” Buck said.
