Esports Technologies recruits Mark Thorne as new CMO
Igaming veteran joins esports-first firm following year-long stint as industry consultant
Esports Technologies has appointed igaming industry veteran Mark Thorne as the group’s new chief marketing officer (CMO). Thorne, whose last full-time position was as betFIRST CMO from August 2019 to August 2020, has been serving as an industry-wide consultant in the interim before taking up the role with Esports Technologies. Thorne has previously held CMO positions at Wishmaker and Twin.com, as well as spending two years as Betfair’s Portuguese country manager in the late 2000s. In his role with Esports Technologies, he will be responsible for building the company’s brand, reputation, audience and revenue and will report directly into CEO Aaron Speach. Speaking on Thorne’s arrival, Speach said: “His experience in the industry brings an important dimension to our leadership team as we drive Esports Technologies to its full potential. He has already proven to be an important adviser and an excellent lead for our growing marketing team.” Thorne commented: “Esports Technologies is one of the most exciting and promising players in the esports wagering space with ambitious plans, a clear roadmap and the ability to be agile and deliver rapidly. “The momentum and potential for growth is both undeniable and astounding as is the calibre of the team. I look forward to joining the team and adding value to an already well-oiled machine,” he added. Elsewhere, Esports Technologies has also opened its new Malta office, from where Thorne and his to-be-built team will be based.
