Antti Mäki will report into CEO Grant Williams and lead on marketing functions for the Optimizer Invest-backed start-up
Optimizer Invest-backed lottery start-up Megalotto has recruited former Paddy Power Betfair (PPB) digital director Antti Mäki as its new chief marketing officer (CMO), EGR has learned.
Mäki will start at Megalotto in October and will be tasked with leading the brand’s marketing function, reporting into CEO Grant Williams who himself joined in April from William Hill.
Mäki has more than 15 years’ experience in various business roles having studied marketing and finance, most recently with PPB in London.
Before that, he took the lead on the digital transformation of Finnish media giant GroupM Finland, acting as country manager and part of the Nordic executive team.
Williams said: “We are delighted to be bringing someone of Antti’s quality into the business, in what is a key hire for Megalotto.
“We want to create a world-class user experience for our Megalotto consumers, and Antti is the perfect candidate to help us fulfil this ambition.
“He delivered some key projects in his recent time with Paddy Power Betfair and with a wealth of start-up, corporate and consultancy experience, he brings a lot to the table,” he added.
Megalotto.com is expected to go live by the end of 2019.
Mäki said: “I am hugely excited to be joining Megalotto and to get the chance to help launch this new lottery brand.
“There is a huge amount of growth and innovation to come in the online lottery space, and I simply cannot wait to get started.
“The Optimizer Invest team has made it clear that we are entering this vertical to explore new ways to disrupt and develop the end-to-end lottery experience.
“With that we will set out to challenge ourselves and the competition when it comes to the product, brand positioning and the story and vision we sell to our customers.”
