Flutter boosts internal communications process with new committee

Flutter Entertainment has launched a new Workforce Engagement Committee designed to strengthen communication channels between the firm’s board and its employees. The committee will replace Flutter’s existing Employee Voice Forum, which was established in accordance with the 2018 UK Corporate Governance Code. “Through the establishment of the Workforce Engagement Committee, Flutter aims to enhance the board’s awareness of employee matters in the context of the board’s decision-making process,” Flutter said in a statement. Flutter Entertainment currently employs 14,000 staff of 75 different nationalities that speak 62 different languages spread across five continents. Principal duties of the Workforce Engagement Committee include the maintenance of appropriate engagement policies, processes and communication channels with employees and encouraging participation in these channels from all stakeholders. In addition, the committee will evaluate feedback from employees on workforce engagement initiatives and relay issues identified by employees back to the board of directors. The first members of this new committee have been confirmed as Flutter directors Mary Turner, Nancy Cruickshank, Nancy Dubuc, Richard Flint and Gary McGann. Turner will also serve as chairman of the committee. Flutter Entertainment chairman Gary McGann said: “As a diverse international group, we recognise the important role our workforce plays in our success. “The establishment of the new Workforce Engagement Committee will provide a clear mechanism for the board to listen to the views of our workforce and take account of these views in the board’s decision-making process,” McGann added. In addition to announcing the new Workforce Engagement Committee, Flutter has confirmed several other key appointments to governance committees within the firm. Former VICE Media CEO Dubuc, who joined Flutter in February as part of a gender rebalancing of the firm’s board, has joined Flutter’s remuneration committee and nomination committee. Holly Koeppel, who was appointed at the same time as Dubuc, will join Flutter’s audit, risk and nomination committees. In addition, existing Flutter director Cruickshank will step down from the audit committee to join the nomination committee.
