Gala Coral appoints new mobile head
David Fuke hired as new head of mobile and web following Robert Fellâs departure
Gala Coral has appointed bwin.partyâs former head of product David Fuke as its new head of mobile and web as the operator looks to build upon strong mobile growth so far in 2015.
Fuke had previously spent six years at the helm of bwin.partyâs product line across casino, games and bingo, and will report directly to product and gaming development director Itay Fisher.
He replaces Robert Fell who was appointed head of mobile and web in January and leaves to pursue opportunities outside the industry.
Fukeâs primary task will be to continue the strong mobile growth Gala Coral has enjoyed in recent months. The firm reported in May that mobile sports stakes had increased 141% in H1 FY2015, while gaming stakes were also up 107%. By the end of the half, mobile accounted for 71% of total sports stakes taken by Coralâs online sportsbook, as well as 63% of gaming stakes.
Coral has been particularly active on the mobile channel so far this year, with the addition of Apple Watch functionality to its sportsbook app among a number of new features rolled out.
With Q3 results expected on Thursday, Fuke must maintain this momentum on the channel, even as the continued uncertainty created by the agreed merger with Ladbrokes rumbles on.
