Iowa bill expected to be debated today
Jeff Danielson's bill could get fast-track consideration ahead of Friday's funnel deadline.
Senator Jeff Danielson’s bill to regulate online poker in Iowa could receive a subcommittee hearing today ahead of this week’s first ‘funnel’ deadline.
Danielson’s Senate Bill 458 failed to make it past this stage last year, however a new bill, SSB 3164, was introduced last week, drawn up with the support of US Digital Gaming, and is poised to receive fast-track consideration in the State Government Subcommittee at 3.30pm local time this afternoon.
Following the failure of last year’s legislation, an extensive study was conducted into the impact of online gambling in the Hawkeye State, with USDG named as one of two potential platform providers in a report published last December.
In an eGaming Review poll earlier this month just 11% of readers believed that Iowa would be the first US state to take a bet online.
