LeoVegas appoints new Malta-based COO
Chairman of the board Mårten Forste to replace Richard Woodbridge in C-level role from February
Malta-headquartered operator LeoVegas has confirmed chairman of the board Mårten Forste as the group’s new chief operating officer (COO).
Forste will replace current COO Richard Woodbridge from 3 February, with Woodbridge exiting the business to work in another industry from the end of May.
Woodbridge had been in the COO role for just over 12 months, having previously worked as COO for Nordic fashion retailer Ellos Group and online retailer Nelly.com.
LeoVegas group CEO Gustaf Hagman said it was “truly unfortunate” to lose Woodbridge but wished him every success in his future role.
“Mårten is the perfect successor as he has been with LeoVegas from the start and is a strong contributing force behind our strategy and operations,” said Hagman.
“He has good knowledge about all parts of LeoVegas and our culture, and he knows what we need to do to further develop the company and be ‘King of Casino’. “His experience clearly makes him the right person to further build upon what Richard has started,” Hagman added.
Forste is currently in his third year as chairman of LeoVegas and has previously worked as COO of online dating sites Match.com and European dating site Meetic.
A new chairman will be recommended to the company by nomination committee no later than the group’s annual general meeting on 29 May.
Speaking about his new role, Forste said he was proud to move into the operations role, adding his belief that LeoVegas is in “the best possible place” to take market share.
“I look forward to working further on the course charted by the management team, creating shareholder value and continuing to take market share by delivering a safe, sustainable and entertaining customer experience,” Forste said.
Earlier this month, LeoVegas announced the closure of its Royal Panda brand to UK players.
