Mobile drives Gala Coral sportsbook growth
CEO Carl Leaver praises âmobile user experienceâ as mobile penetration rises to two-thirds of active users
Mobile products helped boost Gala Coralâs sportsbook performance during Q2 2014 as mobile penetration at its Coral.co.uk brand increased 19% year-on-year to two-thirds of active customers.
Online sportsbook stakes rose 126% during the period to £85.1m and GGR more than doubled to £5.5m during the period, with in-play betting proving to be particularly popular during the World Cup increasing 140% year-on-year.
CEO Carl Leaver put the strong performance down to various improvements made to the mobile products in the build up to the World Cup.
âDuring the World Cup the Coral app was regularly ranked as the first or second most downloaded iOS sportsbetting app, and crucially we are also seeing improved levels of customer retention as new customers respond positively to the online and mobile user experience,â Leaver said.
Gala Coralâs other brands also reported strong growth on mobile devices, particularly its Gala Casino brand which saw mobile penetration increase during the year to 59% of active users.
The groupâs Gala Bingo and Italy-facing Eurobet.it brands recorded similar migrations to mobile, rising to 16% and 41% percentage points respectively.
A new Gala Bingo mobile site launched in April this year featuring an entirely new design and adaptive user interface that enabled the operator to launch the same product across multiple devices.
