Mr Green eyes compulsory use of Green Gaming in UK
The Nordic operator wants mandatory sign-up for UK customers but GDPR guidelines may prove to be a roadblock
Nordic gaming operator Mr Green plans to make its responsible gambling tool, Green Gaming, compulsory for all UK players, EGR understands
The Green Gaming tool will be mandatory for all of Mr Green’s Swedish players as of January 1 2019, when the country’s new regulatory gambling framework comes into force.
Green Gaming uses data to monitor the behaviour of each customer, analysing churn, player patterns and segmentation so that if a user’s gambling behaviour becomes too aggressive, Mr Green advisors can step in and make contact.
And Mr Green CEO Jesper Kärrbrink told EGR Intel he hopes to make the software compulsory for every user in the UK market.
However, the full roll-out of the tool may not be compliant with the UK Gambling Commission’s (UKGC) guidelines on GDPR.
Kärrbrink said: “While other gaming companies have data models to monitor risk, Green Gaming is a customer-facing product that puts some extra demands on GDPR.
“The new Swedish regulation has taken this into consideration which has made it easier to make tools like this compulsory.
“We hope we can do the same for all of our markets including the UK, but it seems to be a question over GDPR that we are trying to clear now.
“We are also investigating if we can make Green Gaming compulsory in all other markets where we operate,” he added.
