Mybet looks to new markets for 2016
CEO Zeno Ossko says new platform will allow firm to expand into "some interesting new markets"
Mybet will look to expand its presence into new markets once it rolls out its overhauled platform at the start of next year, eGaming Review has learnt.
“Absolutely we are looking at new markets,” mybet CEO Zeno Ossko told eGR. “With the new platform we will be capable of doing several things we couldn’t do last year.
“We are looking at some interesting new markets and some markets we have been successful in in the past but due to changing regulation our existing platform couldn’t handle,” he added.
Although Ossko would not be drawn on which markets mybet will enter or re-enter next year, he did say the firm continues to expand into Africa and is exploring the possibility of taking its retail business there online.
Back in Europe, mybet has withdrawn from Italy, Spain and Britain over the past couple of years, but regulatory changes, especially in the first two of those markets, could make a re-entry appealing once its Amelco-provided platform goes live.
Despite a decline in the firm’s online business during Q3, which Ossko said was primarily down to capital control measures in Greece, mybet did see a strong growth in mobile staking.
Ossko said the growth was a result of an improved product offering and a continued omni-channel push which looks to leverage the firm’s retail estate, which saw growth in Q3.
“We have a multi-channel solution which works perfectly with all devices and all channels integrated,” Ossko said.
As part of next year’s platform roll-out, mybet will undergo a rebranding giving the firm a completely new look, with the first retail store launching with the new branding in Germany at the weekend.
And Ossko also said he was encouraged by recent regulatory developments in Germany, which has seen a number of major court rulings and a landmark opinion from the ECJ’s advocate general.
“The upside is for the entire industry. We think the limit of 20 licences will fall. For us it is good as we are basically white-listed. It is business as usual,” he said.
