NetPlay TV reveals strong end to year
Net gaming revenue increases in the fourth quarter of 2010 as mobile app proves a hit.
Interactive gaming company NetPlay TV, operator of SuperCasino.com and ChallengeJackpot.co.uk, has announced a “significant” increase in net gaming revenue in the fourth quarter of 2010 and said it expects results for the year will be in line with market expectations.
Customer deposits were also up on the previous quarter, according to the company’s trading update released this morning. This marks a more positive end to a difficult year for the business, during which it endured the resignation of CEO and founder Martin Higginson and underwent a restructuring programme to focus more on live casino products.
NetPlay TV launched its first real-money mobile casino app in August with iPhone users accounting for more than 10% of cash players on the company’s core Supercasino live casino product by the end of December last year.
Chief executive Charles Butler said he is pleased with the progress provided by the new app, and expects the mobile sector to have a significant role to play throughout 2011.
“We are particularly pleased with the uptake of our iPhone application, which is a perfect fit for our business and provides another medium for our customers to play seamlessly while watching our games on TV or while on the move.
“With iPad and Android applications firmly on our product roadmap, we believe this will be a very exciting year for mobile, and we look forward to significant growth in this area.”
A trial of NetPlay TV’s teleshopping product with ITV ended in Q4, however a new rolling contract for Challenge Jackpot has been agreed, while negotiations over a longer-term deal continue.
