Online marketing boosts NetPlay H1 revenues
Interactive TV casino operator posts a 36% year-on-year revenue rise after a 377% increase in online marketing spend
Strong growth in mobile and increased online marketing investment helped NetPlay TV post a 36% year-on-year rise in net revenue, the firm revealed in its interim results for the six months ended 30 June.
The interactive TV casino operator saw net revenue reach £14.2m in H1, compared to £10.4m in the same period last year and EBITDA also increased 17% year-on-year from £2.3m to £2.7m.
The Alderney-licensed firm increased its total marketing expenses for H1 2013 to £6.6m, up from £4.1m during the first six months of 2012. This contributed to a 31% increase in new depositing casino players and a 32% increase in average quarterly active depositing players. Online marketing for the period accounted for £1.9m of its total marketing spend, an increase of 377% compared to last year.
Growth in mobile and tablet also continued for the operator during the first half of the year, now amounting to 28% of total revenue and 34% of new depositing players.
NetPlay CEO Charles Butler said the firm was pleased with its interim results and highlighted the importance of its online marketing campaign for the strong performance.
“Our accelerated investment in pure online marketing is continuing to have a positive impact,” he said. “This complements our existing TV marketing and represents the Group’s broadened marketing strategy, which underpins both our current and future growth.”
In April the operator signed a new three-year broadcast agreement with ITV which saw its Jackpot 247 brand featured on ITV six nights a week. More recently the company’s SuperCasino brand was made the headline sponsor of the Channel Five reality TV gameshow Big Brother.
