Paddy Power Social plots Premier League push
Real-money social sportsbook to launch new features ahead of new football season with a mobile launch also in the pipeline
Paddy Power is preparing to unveil a raft of new features to its real-money social sportssbook in preparation for the English Premier League football season following what the operator described as a “hugely successful” World Cup.
The new season of England’s top division is set to kick off on 16 August and Paddy Power Social is expected to launch a number of interface improvements as well as larger “acquisition and retention” drive prior to the first game.
The updates follow a big World Cup for the social betting app and head of Paddy Power Social, Ben O’Donnell, told eGaming Review the month-long tournament saw the number of customers grow rapidly to a peak of approximately 5,000.
“We were pleased with the spike in monthly active users despite coming to the party relatively late,” O’Donnell said.
Paddy Power Social is also planning to launch horse racing betting markets in the near future as well as making its first move into mobile with the launch of a new app before the end of the year.
O’Donnell confirmed the mobile product was in pre-production and the development team planned to incorporate many of the same social features from the Facebook app, such as the news feed.
Paddy Power Social beta-launched as Paddy Power In-Play on Facebook last year to become the first real-money sports betting app on the platform.
The social sportsbook underwent a complete redesign in May including a revamped landing page, a new ‘thumbs up’ logo and updated social features.
