PKR chief exec Alexander departs after two months
Former bwin.party director of poker Chris Welch appointed as PKR CEO as Neil Alexander exits the online poker operator
PKR chief executive Neil Alexander has stepped down from the role just two months after taking the reins and will be replaced by ex-bwin.party executive Chris Welch, eGaming review has learned.
A spokesperson for the online poker operator this morning confirmed Alexander had left the firm, with former bwin.party director of poker Chris Welch appointed as his successor.
Welch has held a number of other senior roles in the online gaming industry, including stints as group marketing director at PokerStars and managing director at Centrebet, and had been working with PKR as a brand and marketing consultant since June.
Alexander, a former managing director at Sportingbet and MyLotto24, had been appointed to replace long-serving PKR CEO Malcolm Graham, who left the company earlier this year following almost a decade in charge.
Graham, who has since taken up a vice president position at Gametech, was the second major departure from PKR after co-founder and COO Leon Walters left back in February.
The departures come amid a turbulent period for PKR, which last year conducted a major overhaul of its in-house poker platform in a bid to improve the speed of gameplay and attract more high-volume players.
The operator has also recently withdrawn from a number of markets, including Italy, France and Portugal.
