Playtech mobile casino outstrips sportsbook in Q3
Mobile now attributing 15% of total software revenues as Weizer hails strong product pipeline on the channel
Playtechâs mobile casino revenue outstripped that of mobile sportsbook for the first time in Q3 2014 as the firm continued to show strong growth in the channel.
Mobile casino revenue more than doubled year-on-year to â¬6m, a rise chief executive Mor Weizer attributed to a growing list of licensees and Ladbrokes completing its migration to Playtechâs IMS in April.
The growth rate was faster than the firmâs mobile sportsbook product, which is used by a number of the major UK-facing bookmakers, could achieve.
In total the firm derived around 15% of total software revenues from mobile during the period, up five percentage points on Playtechâs H1 mobile performance
But it was still far short of the mobile penetration rates reported by most operators, leading Weizer to label mobile as âstill in its infancyâ at the time.
Weizer said the performance endorsed Playtechâs âstrongâ product and hailed its pipeline, with its partnership with Gazzetta dello Sport owners RCS Media set to see the launch of a mobile casino in the coming months.
Playtech also expects to see the full launch of a Caliente-branded mobile casino in Mexico within the same time frame after soft launching the product late last month.
