Playtech announces RAY deal extension
Two-year agreement follows successful launch of state-owned egaming site in 2010
Playtech has announced it has signed a two-year extension to its licence agreement with Finland’s state gaming operator, Rahaautomaattiyhdistys (RAY).
Playtech has been providing RAY with online casino, poker and mobile products since 2010 after a successful tender bid saw the gaming software supplier win a four-year contract. The launch of the gaming site followed a move by the Finnish government to amend the operator’s gaming licence to permit online gaming earlier that year.
RAY ““ which holds the exclusive right to manage all licensed gaming operations in Finland ““ posted almost €50m GGR last year. According to the operator’s half-year results in 2012, online activities account for around 6% of the operator’s gaming revenues.
Playtech COO Shay Segev said: “With the recent launch of Playtech’s mobile casino, RAY will have yet another platform to drive revenue and engage players in the Finnish market for years to come. RAY is a strategic Playtech partner, demonstrating our strong position in regulated markets.”
Earlier this week Playtech recorded 16% year-on-year revenue growth for the three months ended 31 March, with casino contributing more than half of the €87.5m total after growing 28% compared to the corresponding period in 2012.
