Playtech's full-year revenues soar 38%
Supplier also reports a 22% YoY increase in EBITDA following double-digit revenue growth from its core verticals
Playtech today reported a 38% year-on-year rise in 2015 revenues following strong double-digit growth from its core casino business and the creation of its new financials division.
Total revenues for the year ended 31 December 2015 were ?630.1m, up from ?457m in 2014, and up 26% excluding acquisitions and adding back the impact of the UK’s Point of Consumption tax.
On a constant currency basis, revenues increased 16% compared to 2014, while the London-listed firm’s full-year adjusted EBITDA was also up 22% year-on-year to ?251.9m.
Regulated revenues accounted for nearly half of total group revenues and 41% of gaming revenues during the year, up from 36% in 2014.
Revenues from its gaming arm were up 25% year-on-year to ?570.1m which included double-digit growth from casino (26%), services (17%), sports (22%) and bingo (17%), while land-based revenues soared 79%.
The growth in gaming comes after Playtech added a number of new licensees to its business during 2015 including Sun Bingo, Marca, win2day and Mr Green.
However, the fortunes of the supplier’s poker arm reflected wider industry trends and was the only area of the business not to record growth as revenues decreased 19% year-on-year to ?11.2m.
Playtech’s financials division, which was created following its acquisition of Markets Limited, contributed revenues of ?60m in 2015 despite failing to compete its proposed acquisitions of Plus500 and Ava Trade.
Chairman, Alan Jackson, said he was pleased with the performance of Playtech’s new division as the company eyes up further acquisitions both inside and outside of the financial trading sector.
“Our newly created financials division is developing well and we have further improved its business model,” Jackson said.
“We have many opportunities for further growth, both organically and through M&A, with active discussions on a number of potential acquisitions in the gaming division,” he continued.
Playtech’s share price was up 28p to 831.50p on the London Stock Exchange this morning.
