Poll results: eSports judged the EiG buzz phrase
Respondents to this week's poll felt eSports would be the talk of the town at this week's exhibition
As the curtain comes down on another EiG, eGaming Review readers have judged ‘eSports’ to be the buzz phrase of this year’s Berlin-hosted exhibition.
The annual event is always awash with chatter as egaming’s brightest gather to discuss key issues set to define the industry over the next 12 months and beyond.
Each year the major exhibitions of ICE, G2E and EiG seem to be dominated by one or two key trends, jumped upon by suppliers and operators alike as the ‘next big thing’.
And with this in mind, eGR wanted to know which topic you thought would be raised more than any other at this year’s event and in a relatively close battle, eSports was given the nod.
The interest in eSports has reached fever pitch in recent months with the likes of Betway and Betgenius going big on the opportunity. And 38% of respondents felt that momentum would continue into EiG and voted it to be the buzz phrase of the exhibition.
And EiG organisers also felt eSports couldn’t be ignored, with the event hosting two separate panel discussions on the potential of eSports as a gambling product.
There was a dead-heat for second place with ‘omni-channel’ and ‘data analysis’ receiving 27% of the vote while ‘DFS’ trailed in last on 8% despite recent, albeit negative, media headlines.
