Sportradar launches Simulated Reality platform for European football
AI-driven product will allow fans to bet on simulations of postponed fixtures due to coronavirus outbreak
Sportradar has launched an AI-driven product that will simulate top-tier football games that have been postponed due to Covid-19.
The Simulated Reality product launches on 3 April and will allow fans to place pre-match and in-play bets on the remaining fixtures from England, Germany and Spain.
The platform will utilise Sportradar’s database and statistical analysis to run the simulations. The games will be played out over a full 90 minutes with the remaining games to be played as per the original date and kick-off times.
The simulations will reflect team form and real-life match play and bettors can access league tables and analytics.
There are plans for Simulated Reality to be brought to other leagues and competitions in the near future with tennis and basketball.
Sportradar CEO Carsten Koerl said that there was an “appetite” from bettors in the absence of live sports action which drove the launch of the product.
Koerl added: “We have listened carefully to our customers and the betting community who have made it clear there is an appetite for alternative means of betting during this time where this is a void in live sports action.”
