Swedish gambling authority names permanent chief
Camilla Rosenburg will lead the authority’s transition to government licensing body following regulation
The Swedish government has appointed Camilla Rosenburg as the permanent general director of the country’s gambling authority Lotteriinspektionen.
Rosenburg has been in the position of acting director general since May 2017 after former head Hakan Hallstedt stepped down in March. Her contract will cover a six year period.
Speaking to Swedish newspaper Di, the Swedish minister with responsibility for gambling, Ardalan Shekarabi, said: “We are confident with Camilla as director general of this important authority to lead the major reform that will affect large parts of our society.”
Rosenburg will be responsible for transitioning Lotteriinspektionen into the country’s official online gambling licensing body by 2019 when legislation will come into force.
“We will have to recruit many more employees and reorganise our operations,” she said. “It will be a total overhaul, but it is premature to be more specific.”
“We are preparing the authority in several ways but we have to wait for the government’s decision to re-regulate towards an open gambling market in Sweden before we start the adjustment of our organisation.”
