Unibet latest to add Twitter age verification tool
Operator follows William Hill and Coral by launching new tool to block underage followers on the social platform
Stockholm-listed operator Unibet has joined operators including William Hill and Coral in adding an age screening tool to its English-language Twitter account.
Twitter users are now required to enter their date of birth if they attempt to follow the operator although this has yet to be added across all of Unibet’s accounts on the social platform.
Unibet is the latest operator to incorporate the system with William Hill the first bookmaker in Europe to do so at the start of September, followed by Coral just two weeks later.
Unibet’s main Twitter account currently has approximately 19,200 followers.
In June the operator’s Player Safety – Early Detection System (PS-EDS) won the prize for Innovation of the Year at eGaming Review‘s Marketing and Innovation awards.
The proprietary PS-EDS uses empirical academic research to provide an early-warning system to detect problematic gambling behaviour.
“Unibet demonstrates that with its innovative approach responsible gaming goes hand-in-hand with building a sustainable consumer centric online business,” Unibet CEO, Henrik Tjärnström, said at the time.
“As a publically listed company, corporate social responsibility and sustainable solutions are of highest importance to our shareholders and our staff,” he added.
Last month eGR revealed that Unibet’s female-targeted Maria.com brand was planning to launch a new poker product next year as it looks to re-enter the vertical following Unibet’s decision to leave Microgaming’s MPN network.
