This weekâs round-up includes news of 32Redâs mobile performance as well as app updates from BetVictor and William Hill
Casino operator 32Red reported almost one third of casino revenues at the firm were derived from mobile devices during H1 2014, up from 17% in the corresponding period in 2013. That growth contributed towards a 19% hike in total gross gaming revenue to £22.6m, with active casino players also rising by 20%.
BetVictor updated its flagship sports betting and casino application this week, altering the design to improve navigation. Users can swipe left for an updated bar with quicker access to favourite sports and account details. Each-way betting terms have also been added to mobile betting slips, while minor bug fixes were also carried out.
William Hill also made minor adjustments to its Vegas casino application with an update to support new game releases. William Hill last month signed up Swedish supplier Quickspin to supply its portfolio of online and mobile casino games, adding to the supplierâs roster of egaming clients that previously included the likes of Ladbrokes and bet365.
Swedish operator Svenska Spel revealed its new mobile sportsbook, released just before the World Cup, has been received well by customers to date and helped contribute towards a marginal increase in the operatorâs sports betting business, which contributed 18% of the firmâs total revenues for the first six months of 2014.
The Guardian meanwhile has placed its mobile Gowager sportsbook under review after critics questioned the newspaperâs decision to launch a gambling business. The newspaper has been accused of hypocrisy by launching the offering while at the same time questioning the use of fixed-odds betting terminals.
