William Hill hires industry veteran Andy May
Former Ladbrokes and Betfair director appointed interim global brand & marketing director following Kristian Welch’s move to its US office
William Hill has hired industry veteran Andy May as global brand & marketing director on an interim basis, after incumbent Kristian Welch recently switched to a new US-focused role for the operator.
May, who has worked in the sector nearly 20 years, took up his position at Hills earlier this month having previously held a number of senior marketing roles at several operators including Ladbrokes, Betfair and Sportingbet.
A William Hill spokesperson confirmed to EGR that May had joined the company on an interim basis but said no decision had yet been made as to how long he would hold the role for.
His appointment comes after Welch, the firm’s current global brand & marketing director, recently moved to William Hill’s new US office in New Jersey.
The London-listed bookmaker opened its new Hoboken-based office within the last few weeks in the lead up to the Supreme Court’s decision to strike PASPA last month, a move which opens the door to legal sports wagering in the US.
Earlier this year, William Hill restructured its management team, with former Online MD Crispin Nieboer taking on a new role as corporate development director and tasked with leading the firm’s international growth strategy, particularly in the US.
