William Hill signs cricket star Flintoff
Two-time Ashes winner joins operator as ambassador ahead of first England-Australia Test
Former England cricketer and two-time Ashes winner Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff has signed up with William Hill as an official sporting ambassador.
Flintoff, winner of the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award in 2005, joined the UK operator before the first Ashes Test is due to start at Nottingham’s Trent Bridge on 10 July.
William Hill said Flintoff’s role will include providing cricket tips via the operator’s Ashes Podcast and promoting William Hill products.
Kristof Fahy, chief marketing officer at William Hill, described Flintoff as an “English icon who transcends the sport of cricket” and said having him on board was “a huge coup”.
“Freddie has been there and done it and we cannot wait to start working with him “ he perfectly embodies what we want from our ambassadors,” he added.
Flintoff, twice part of an Ashes winning team in 2005 and 2009, said he was “chuffed to be bits” to join William Hill for what could be one of the “best years in English cricket history”.
He becomes the operator’s third sporting ambassador, alongside former footballer Robbie Savage, now a BBC football pundit, and 2010 Grand National winning jockey AP McCoy.
